The fruitful programs at drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation centers share many similarities as both are based on some kind of addiction and these addictions are difficult to gain control over. There are special drug and alcohol rehabs for addicts to get rid of such addictions. Substance detoxification generally focuses on removing all the toxic substances from a person’s body.

One can simply define drug and alcohol addiction as the stage where one starts losing control over the intake of drugs and alcohol. The word intervention means using all of one’s personal tools, such as family and friends, and supporting medical doctors, and trainers to deal with any kind of substance abuse.

When someone becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol, it is very difficult for anyone to stop them. Until they are able to accept that they are addicts it will be difficult to stop the addictive personality and the behaviours associated with it. Rehabilitation from Drug and alcohol abuse is a process where the willingness is developed over a period of time in the addict because they eventually see they need to overcome the bad habits they acquired.

Treatment to cure drug addiction:

  • Outpatient treatment:

Outpatient treatment is the treatment provided in a very proper way at drug rehab centers to those who periodically visit the treatment facility in undergoing “outpatient treatment”. Patients will only receive therapy as recommended by a licensed therapist, allowing them to attend to his or her day-to-day responsibilities-such as attending to work or school.

  • Intensive Outpatient Care:

Intensive outpatient care is a treatment program that does not require patients to participate in drug detoxification but still requires individual therapy, group counselling, psycho-educational group therapy, self-management support, and use methods such as the 12 Steps. It usually serves as a follow-up to residential care and detoxification services.

  • In-Patient/Residential Treatment

When a client receives care from licensed therapists at a rehab centre, he becomes a “patient” of the facility. A residential patient, or an inpatient, is someone who lives in a treatment facility for 24 hours a day, for as long as weeks or months. Living in a treatment facility allows the patient to free his mind from external problems, and focus only on recovering.

  • Medical and Mental Health Care

In all of the drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation centers, the health practitioners are licensed physicians and doctors who work together to provide the best possible treatment program for every individual addict.
